Stevia Rebaudiana is a perennial shrub that occurs naturally in northeastern Paraguay and neighboring regions of Brazil. Local Indian tribes – guarans - use the leaves as a sweetener.
Chemical composition:
The sweetness of stevia is due to the sweet substances contained in it, collectively called steviosides (in pure they are about 200 times sweeter than sugar) as well as plant lipids, polysaccharides, vitamins - A, C , B1, B2 , P, F, PP, carotene, flavonoid - rutin kvartsitin, kvaritsitrin, apigenin etc.; microelements - potassium, magnesium, zinc, copper, chromium, selenium, iron, calcium, sodium, amino acids, etc.
Properties and application:
Stevia has a general tonic effect, restores power after nervous and physical exhaustion and reduces the process of aging. It is an indispensable means for patients with cardiovascular disease and diabetes, because steviosides stimulate the secretion of insulin. Numerous studies have shown that regular use of stevia reduces sugar content, radionuclides and cholesterol in the body, improving cell regeneration and blood coagulation, consolidates the blood vessels and normalizes blood pressure.
