Application: In respiratory disease (angina, bronchitis, catarrh, cough, shortness of breath), to facilitate sputum excretion, in gastrointestinal inflammation.

Effect: Liquorice acts as a stimulant of the adrenal cortex and pancreas. Has anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic, antispasmodic, antiulcer, antimalarial, antibacterial, antiviral effect. The herb is an antioxidant and antidiarrheal agent, helps digestion, soothes the stomach lining. Has expectorant, estrogen, hypoglycemic effect. Acts as a stimulant of the immune system, lowers blood cholesterol. Liquorice has a mild laxative effect, protects the liver. Protects from radiation exposure. In folk medicine Licorice is applied in trouble urinating caused by prostate adenoma.

Description: Liquorice is a perennial herbaceous plant of the legume family. Liquorice has a short thick rhizome.

Directions: Infusion: Add 2-3 tablespoons of the drug to 500ml of boiling water. Boil for 15 minutes and leave it to soak for 2 hours. Strain the decoction and partake 3 times daily after meals. It is applicable for reducing gastric acidity in the ulcer.

Syrup is made by the potion and is used as a soothing expectorant for asthma and bronchitis. Powdered root is cautiously rubbed on canker sores.
