Licorice is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Legume family. The Licorice has a short, thick rhizome.

It is also widely known as licorice and licorice.

Licorice acts as a stimulant of the adrenal cortex and pancreas. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic, anti-spasmodic, anti-ulcer, anti-malarial, antibacterial, antiviral effects. The herb is an antioxidant and diuretic. It helps digestion, soothes the stomach lining. It has an expectorant, estrogenic, hypoglycemic effect. Acts as an immune system stimulant. Lowers blood cholesterol. The jam also has a mild laxative effect. Protects the liver. Protects against radiation exposure. In folk medicine, licorice root is used for difficulty urinating due to the presence of prostate adenoma.

Licorice root tea is commonly used as a home remedy for stomach problems such as reflux, indigestion, ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome, and to soothe a sore throat.
Recent studies have shown that licorice root is useful in treating liver disease and acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), as well as gum disease and preventing tooth decay.

Application of licorice root

For diseases of the respiratory tract (angina, bronchitis, catarrh, cough, shortness of breath) to facilitate the release of sputum, hoarse voice.
In case of inflammation and kidney stones, gastritis, chronic constipation, rheumatism, ulcer disease.

How to use licorice root

Decoction: Infusion of 2 teaspoons of roots in 250 ml of boiling water for 10 minutes, which is drunk 3 times before meals. Dose for one day.

Syrup: Made from the decoction and used as a soothing expectorant for asthma and bronchitis.

Powdered root: Rub lightly on gangrenous wounds.

Contraindications
Long-term use of licorice, Succus Liquiritiae is undesirable, as the electrolyte-water balance may be disturbed (this will lead to the formation of edema). Contraindicated for pregnant and lactating women.
