Application: In kidney diseases.
Effect: has diuretic properties, accompanied by enhanced release of uric acid and chlorides from the body, doubles urine output. Has antispastic effects on organs with smooth muscle and increases the secretion of gastric juice in the bile.
Description: Evergreen shrub, branched to 80 cm heightwith a purple hue. The leaves are opposite, rhombic, elliptic, 2-7 cm long. Inflorescence with flowers in whorls of 4-6. Ortosifon is a tropical plant, therefore fruits and nuts ripen rarely.
Directions: For a course of 10 grams of raw material (put 2-3 tablespoons in 1 cup of boiling water). Partake 1/2-1/3 of a cup 2-3 times daily before meals.
