Action and application
Andrographis is widely used in traditional medicine. Decoctions of the plant are used in the complex treatment of influenza, colds, diseases of the upper respiratory tract, bronchitis and bronchial asthma, laryngitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, acute and chronic cough, as an antipyretic. The extract of the herb helps with dysbiosis, irritable bowel syndrome and ulcerative colitis. It is used as a choleretic agent. The course of andrographis is considered an effective hepatoprotector that reduces the effect of toxic substances on the liver. Andrographis extract is used in the complex treatment of prostate, stomach, skin and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Rinsing with andrographis is effective in tonsillitis, ulcers in the oral cavity. Lotions and baths with a decoction of the plant help with skin inflammation, bacterial and fungal infections, eczema, psoriasis, furunculosis, burns.
Contraindications and side effects
The medicinal properties of the plant need further study and, although andrographis has no contraindications, it is not recommended for pregnant and lactating women, as well as children. Before using the herb, you should consult your doctor.
Method of preparation
It is used in the form of dry powder, 1-2 teaspoons 1-2 times a day (2-6 grams per day), morning and evening, before meals or 1 hour after meals. The powder is dissolved in a small amount of warm water or milk. Boiling water can destroy some of the active ingredients of the plant. It is recommended to do courses of 15-30 days, with breaks of 15-30 days.
