Latin name ofelderberry is Sambucus nigra L. - Read "sambukus nigra"

Elderberry leaves are collected in the summer (June-July) when the leaves are fully developed. Cut a whole leaf with a knife or scissors and tear the constituent leaflets from the handle.

The leaves contain tannins, flavonoids etc.

The leaves are mostly for external use as decoction for baths or poultices for rheumatism, skin rashes, hemorrhoids and gout.
