Green Coffee, Raw Coffee Beans Robusta

Coffea robusta

Origin:Wild plant Coffea canephora robusta has remained unknown until the middle of the 19th century. Then it was discovered in the basin of Congo river. The plant is highly resistant to diseases and cultivars have high productivity per unit area. It endures high temperatures and humidity.

Robusta coffee grows in tropical lowlands to a height of 900 meters above sea level. It grows mainly in the regions of the coffee zone, which are close to the equator from the tenth parallel at north and tenth parallel at south.

Application: Like all other foods and beverages, coffee plays a role in our physical and psychological well-being. Over the years it has been the subject of numerous studies.

It has been shown that coffee increases alertness and stimulates the brain activity. Taking a moderate amount of caffeine, which is one of the main ingredients in coffee, increases the speed with which information is processed within the brain and improves the time for reacting. Caffeine consumption is associated with increased alertness and stimulation of brain activity leading to better concentration in performing different tasks that require special attention and logical thinking. Scientific experiments prove the benefits of coffee breaks at work or while studying, be it during the day or during the night.

Effect:Coffee is a rich natural source of antioxidants neutralizing free radicals in metabolism. Free radicals are part of the natural process within the body, arising as a result of cell metabolism and their natural level can be increased under the influence of external processes such as tobacco smoke, infections, pollution, UV rays. The accumulation of free radicals leads to premature aging and diseases, including certain types of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, etc. Scientific studies have shown that coffee contains a significant amount of antioxidants from the group of polyphenols and this makes the coffee a major source of antioxidants of this type. Coffee reduces the risk of development of liver cirrhosis in consumption of alcohol. Coffee drinkers are less affected by Parkinson's disease. Coffee does not cause hypertension. Well roasted coffee beans can destroy the bacteria Streptococcus mutans, which causes tooth decay. For more than decade caffeine injections are applied for stimulating the breathing of babies when it is strongly violated.

Basic requirements for roasted coffee

To be roasted at home and has a good taste, coffee must comply with the following requirements:

If you are using a fry, make sure that it does not bear the smell of the previous dishes, as it would be assumed by caffeine grains.

Coffee beans must be heated to a temperature of 250 to 300 C degrees.

The coffee beans should be permanently stirred to prevent uneven baking.

As a minimum, the grains must be stirred at every 30 seconds. In the period of 4 - 7 minutes beans will start issuing crackling sounds. At that time the smell of coffee and strong smoke will appear.

Check the beans every minute until the desired color indicates that beans are roasted.

Once the beans are roasted to your taste, immediately remove them from the heat and pour them into a large colander, if possible metal, to cool. Remove the unnecessary chaff and quicken the process of cooling.

How to know that coffee is well-roasted:

Color:Check the attached graph.

Smell:When the beans are almost ready the smell of wet grass is changed to the smell of coffee.

Sound:Once the beans are hot enough, they will begin to crackle, because the water inside the coffee turns into steam and is forced to leave the beads. There are two distinct stages of bursting, often there are first and a second crack. See the graph at the bottom of this page for the temperature ranges for these two important stages.

Interesting:You can grind the raw coffeeand drink it as tea.
Preparation of tea: Grind the green beans in a coffee grinder and brew 1 teaspoon with 500ml of water for 3-4 minutes. Strain. Drink the tea during the day up to 15 o’clock not to interfere the sleep. The tea of raw green coffee has a mild flavor and bright color. Possesses strong refreshing effect.
