Green tea has so many benefits because this plant is rich in phenolic compounds, catechins, flavonoids and caffeine. These substances have antioxidant, hypoglycemic, anti-obesity, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, antimutagenic, diuretic and stimulating effects.

The tea contains vitamins: A, B, C, K, P, PP and pantothenic acid. It's full of antioxidant-rich plant compounds called polyphenols, which have been linked to a number of health benefits, including improved digestion and heart health.

The main health benefits that green tea can provide include:

1. Promote weight loss
Due to its diuretic effect, green tea is also effective in eliminating excess fluids in the body and reducing bloating and water retention. Learn about other water retention teas you can make at home.

In addition, bioactive compounds in green tea, such as caffeine, catechins, and flavonoids, also help boost metabolism. This can cause you to burn more calories and promote weight loss.

2. Preventing early aging
Green tea is high in antioxidants that treat free radicals that can cause wrinkles, sagging, and premature aging.

The catechins present in green tea also help reduce advanced glycation end products (AGEs), reduce inflammation and prevent sagging skin.

3. Prevention of cold and flu
Green tea has antimicrobial properties that help fight bacteria and virus cells. It can prevent the onset of viral diseases such as the common cold, influenza A and influenza B.

5. Prevention of heart disease
Green tea helps regulate cholesterol levels, mainly "bad" cholesterol or LDL. It contains a large amount of antioxidants and helps to inhibit the formation of blood clots. It is useful in preventing conditions such as heart attack, heart failure and thrombosis.

6. Improving dental health
Thanks to its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, green tea helps prevent tooth decay and gum inflammation, which reduces the risk of periodontitis. This tea is also a great option for dealing with bad breath.

7. Prevention of diabetes
Thanks to the antioxidant effect of catechins, green tea reduces oxidative stress and improves the functioning of insulin. This helps regulate blood sugar levels to prevent or treat diabetes.

8. Blood pressure management
In addition to being a diuretic, green tea also contains catechins, which are bioactive compounds with antioxidant properties. They help to dilate blood vessels and, accordingly, to regulate blood pressure.

Although the caffeine in green tea is believed to raise blood pressure, studies have shown that the high amounts of catechins in this tea help reduce inflammation, reduce oxidation, and improve circulation to manage blood pressure.

Green tea also contains 3 times less caffeine than coffee, so it is still a good option for dealing with high blood pressure.

9. Improve performance during training
Drinking green tea regularly can improve performance during resistance-based training. It can also stimulate the use of body fat for energy and increase calorie burning.

10. Prevention of neurodegenerative diseases
The catechins and flavonoids in green tea contain essential antioxidant activity that fights free radicals in the brain and prevents neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
In addition, the polyphenols present in green tea also help improve memory and mobility in people with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
