This wonderful plant is mentioned in the old manuscripts of Tibet , Mongolia and Chinese medicine, and all descriptions point to the fact that sea buckthorn is universal herb.
Sea buckthorn is one of the oldest plants used by man. Most commonly it is found in Siberia and hence its name "Siberian pineapple" because of the delicate aroma of tropical fruits.

Sea buckthorn contains vitamins A, C, the whole group of vitamins B, P, PP, E, K,  many biologically active substances, both therapeutic and prophylactic. Contains 15 various minerals, such as sodium, manganese, magnesium, aluminum, calcium, iron, silicon, titanium, etc. Also beta- carotene, organic acids, sterols, alkaloids, phospholipids, flavonoids, choline, betaine, coumarin pectin.

In folk and official medicine sea buckthorn is used in treatment and prevention of many diseases. Indications for use of sea buckthorn are in avitaminosis, weakened immunity, burns, wounds, sores on skin and mucous membranes, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer (with low acidity of gastric juice). Diseases of the throat and esophagus, skin diseases, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular diseases, neurological diseases, hepatic diseases, decreased potency in men. The list goes on and it's enough to call it "The Orange Queen ".

How to prepare tea:soak 2-3 teaspoons of sea buckthorn fruit for several hours in 500ml of water /possible from the previous evening/ and in the morning strain the water in a separate container. Pour the softened fruits with 500ml of boiling water and boil for 15 minutes. After 15-20 minutes strain and squeeze the cooled tea from the fruit /they could be rubbed through a strainer/. Mix hot and cold extract and get about 800-900 ml of tea that you can drink during the day instead of water.
 * Stewed fruit can be eaten instead of rubbed through a strainer.

How to prepare jam:Wash the sea buckthorn and pour with water until it is covered. Leave it to soak for several hours until gets soft. Put sugar /if possible brown sugar/ in proportion 1:1 in jars. Store in cool dark place. Consume 1 teaspoon 10 minutes before meals three times daily.

 * You can prepare boiled jam, but it reduces the content of vitamin C. The other valuable substances are not affected by the cooking.
