Thymus serpyllum

Effect: Thyme has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, antispasmodic and carminative effect. There is also certain analgesic effect. Calms the nervous system.

Application: Thyme is used in dry and supple cough, acute catarrh of the upper respiratory tract, bronchitis, whooping cough, asthma. In chronic gastritis, ulcers, flatulence. Acts antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, cleansing, antispasmodic, analgesic. In anxiety, insomnia, headache anemia. In inflammation of the oral mucosa or the skin.

Directions: Prepare an infusion of 2 tablespoons of the herb thyme and 500ml of boiling water for 10 min. Partake150 ml 3 times a day 20 minutes before meals. Could be sweetened. For external application (baths, gargle) is used infusions of 100 g dry herb and 2 liters of boiling water. After cooling strain.

Methods of administration of therapeutic agents with thyme:

Infusions of thyme are applied for chest infections, stomach cold or irritable bowel.

Tincture of thyme is applied in diarrhea or as expectorant agent in chest infections.
Gargling with thyme infusion or diluted tincture is applied in sore throat.
Douche with tincture of thyme is used to treat vaginal yeast infections.
Syrup made from decoction of thyme is used for coughs and lung infections.
Rub the chest with essential oil of thyme in chest infections.
Thyme essential oil is applied to insect bites, scabies, infected wounds, or is added to the bath water in weakness and arthritic conditions.
Massage oil made of essential oil of thyme with lavender oil is a very effective treatment for rheumatic pain or strained muscles.
