Linden (Tilia) Flowers,Tilia cordata, flower

Tilia cordata Mill.

Indications: Acute catarrh of the upper respiratory tract (laryngitis, tracheobronchitis) and other temperature conditions. In inflammatory processes in the throat and mouth, skin diseases, joint pains. Calms the nervous system and aids sleeping. In kidney disease.

Method of application: * Prepare infusion of 1 tablespoon finely chopped lime blossom in 250 ml of boiling water. After about 20 min strain the infusion and drunk hot. * For external use prepare decoction of 100 g lime blossom and 2 liters of water. * For gargle prepare decoction of 20 g lime blossom in 250 ml of boiling water. In the warm decoction could also be added 1 teaspoon of baking soda.

Interesting to know: As a herb Lime Blossom is known from ancient times and was used by many healers. Many myths and symbolism are associated with linden tree. The Celts believed lime is sacred tree and the tribal court has collected underneath in solving important cases, as it has been assumed that the tree will ensure fairness and justice. Because of it heart-shaped leaves lime is associated with the goddess of love.

Besides all the memories and feelings that can bring linden blossom, it has very rich healing properties. Reduces fever and helps in dealing with inflammation, increasing perspiration yet reduces night sweats.
