Centaury, European Centaury, Stem 

Centaurium erythraea Rafn

Effect: Increasing the appetite, toning the stomach, stimulating secretion of gastric, bile and pancreatic juice. Carminative.

Application: In anorexia, gastric irritation, constipation with gases, inflammation of the liver, anemia, fevers, painful dyspepsia. For intestinal parasitism. In diabetes.

* Outwardly: for slowly healing wounds.

Directions: * Inwardly: prepare infusion of 1 teaspoon of the herb in 200 ml of boiling water for 10 minutes. Drink three times a day , 1/2 hour before meals.

 * Outwardly: Same infusion is administered externally for compresses in slowly healing wounds and in hair loss. Sometimes the herb is applied outwardly as well, mixed with olive oil.
